Inna Faliks presents Reimagine Beethoven and Ravel
2022 Guest Artist
Friday, June 24, 2022
8PM / $15
Program:
Acclaimed pianist Inna Faliks breaks new ground with an homage to Beethoven and Ravel which manages to do the impossible: be breathtakingly innovative while remaining respectful to the source material. This program presents the live premieres of nine imaginative and rich new works for the piano, alongside masterpieces by Beethoven and Ravel.
Nine contemporary composers, including Paola Prestini, Billy Childs, Timo Andres, as well as six UCLA faculty composers – Richard Danielpour, Peter Golub, Ian Krouse, David Lefkowitz, Mark Carlson and Tamir Hendelman – were commissioned to craft responses to Ludwig van Beethoven’s Bagatelles, op. 126 (incidentally, the master’s favorite) as well as Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit.
Peter Golub: Bagatelle
Ludwig van Beethoven: Bagatelles opus 126: Andante con moto, Cantabile e compiacevole
Tamir Hendelman: Bagatelle
Beethoven: Bagatelle No. 2, Allegro
Richard Danielpour: Bagatelle
Beethoven: Bagatelle No. 3, Andante, Cantabile e grazioso
Ian Krouse: Etude 2a- ‘ad fugam’

David Lefkowitz: Bagatelle
Beethoven: Bagatelle No. 6, Presto, cut time then Andante amabile e con moto
