What is a studio masterclass?
A teacher brings the students to perform for a Visiting Artist. After each student plays, Visiting Artist offers coaching advice. Students may be asked to play passages differently than how they practiced and Visiting Artist may also demonstrate.
Who are the Visiting Artists?
Visiting Artists are seasoned teachers, with many holding teaching appointments at colleges and universities.
When does MAP take place?
Each event has its own schedule. Typically MAP events take place between February and April.
What do I need to prepare?
Two pieces of contrasting style, performed either from memory or with sheet music in front. A Certificate of Achievement is given to students who perform from memory. A Certificate of Participation is given to students who perform with sheet music in front.
How do I register?
Registration must be done by the teacher. Registration is open in December.
