2026 WSMTA CONFERENCE • WORKS IN PROGRESS

At the 2026 Conference, WSMTA is offering a new opportunity: composers are being welcomed to bring their unfinished work for cello and piano for the Conference Guest Artists Naomi Niskala, piano, and An-Lin Bardin, cello, to perform and workshop. It’s an opportunity for composers to work directly with performers in the early to mid stages of writing their piece for cello and piano, to hear what works and what doesn’t, and to get direct feedback, suggestions, and insights.

The Bardin-Niskala Duo perform mixed programs of new music, commissioned works and other works that are song-based. What a wonderful opportunity for our composition students to work with these amazing musicians!!

The Works in Progress session will be Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 4 pm.
Deadline for applications was March 31, 2026.

The composition must be written for cello and piano and be up to five minutes.
Pieces may be finished or not fully finished.
This opportunity is open to students and WSMTA members.
