When is MAP?
Each Chapter has their own MAP schedule. MAP events typically take place between February and April. Please check with your Chapter MAP Chair for specific dates and details.
What do my students need to prepare?
Students prepare two pieces of contrasting style, performed either from memory or with sheet music.
- A Certificate of Achievement is awarded to students who perform from memory.
- A Certificate of Participation is awarded to students who perform with sheet music.
When and how do I register my students?
The registration period begins December 1. Each event has its own registration deadline. Please log in and use the registration form found under the Member Dashboard.
Why do I need to register myself, too?
Teachers are required to accompany their students to MAP. After student performances are completed, a mandatory Teacher Consultation is required with the Visiting Artist. If a teacher’s studio is split between multiple Visiting Artists, Teacher Consultations are required with every Visiting Artist assigned to that studio. Visiting Artists will not work with students unless the teacher is present.
Can I participate without being a member of WSMTA?
Yes! There is a nonmember registration fee of $125.00 which must be paid before an account will be created for registration. The nonmember registration fee is in addition to the Teacher Registration Fee and the Student Registration fee.
How much does it cost?
Please refer to the MAP Booklet for detailed fee information. MAP Grants are available for families with financial need (up to two students per teacher).
